Some did not recognize Him according to scripture. Maybe to some he did appear the same and to others He did not. No one knows.

One theory about why they didn’t recognize Him after the Resurrection is because of unbelief. They couldn’t believe He resurrected. So even if He is standing in front of them looking exactly the same a couple of weeks earlier, they don’t recognize Him because in their minds He was dead and therefore this person standing before them is just someone who happens to look like Him.

The Gospel describes Jesus in white and with shining face at the transfiguration, but not that way after the resurrection or at the ascension.
