Translation help, please!

This one is a hymn to the Sacred Heart which I would like to use for next week’s feast. Any translation help would be appreciated!

As little Latin that I know #2 should go like this:
Heart of Jesus, sweeter than the sun,
Heart purer than the sun,
Sanctuary of the Word of God,
Sum of all the riches of God.

With a little help from an online latin dictionary (God bless google!) verse 3 reads something like this:

You are a port to our shipwrecked world
Untroubled you give peace to all the faithful
You bring a place of refuge to our minds
And the devout find recourse in your heart.
 
it reminds me of “Sweet Heart of Jesus” a favorite from my childhood I have not heard in years.

Sweet Heart of Jesus, font of love and mercy
today we come thy blessing to implore
O thought our hearts to cold and so ungrateful
amd make them Lord thine own forevermore

Sweet Heart of Jesus we implore
O make us love thee more and more (repeat)

Sweet Heart of Jesus make us pure and glentle
and teach us how to do thy blessed will
to follow close the print of thy dear footsteps
and when we fall Sweet Heart oh love us still.

I had never heard “Sweet Heart of Jesus,” thanks for bringing it to my attention. Here it is on YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=hJsAjEgTShI , and another rendition of the same: youtube.com/watch?v=9MdYg62EtD0 .

I love “To Jesus’ Heart All Burning” (we sang it in Catholic school when I was a child back in the 60’s), but it is not in any of my collection of hymnals. Here’s one version from the St. Gregory Hymnal: books.google.com/books?id=8e-5AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA95&lpg=PA95&dq=to+jesus+heart+all+burning&source=bl&ots=aoUk5wCkIO&sig=CDMsdbYlrCeUYhGhU5A3szhyFaY&hl=en&ei=NV81SqD6F4eNtgeRouH4Dg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=8 . Here’s a MIDI version to a different melody: atcc-torcc.org/sacred.htm . But neither of these is the melody I remember from my childhood. Here are the words to the second verse in the version I knew:
O Jesus, meek and lowly,
And ever pure of Heart,
Would that my heart were wholly
Of Thine the counterpart.

you are welcome and thank you for reminding me of the feast of the Precious Heart of Jesus which is soon, and thanks for the nice youtube videos. I enjoyed listening…well if anyone needs any translation of a Croatian word …let me know…🙂
