I am understanding that “substance” is changed. Is that matter, essence,esse or these other ancient Aristotlean terms Summa speaks of? I know what the “accidents” are and they are definately unchanged.

Your phrasing makes it sound like certain things must be unimportant because some people in ancient and medieval times were aware of them.
