Besides the fact that Merton’s time in reading was spent mostly in reading the early church fathers, more than any other mystic, he felt the greatest love for Julian of Norwich. Having read Julian and St. Faustina, I would say that they would have been best friends. If you haven’t read Julian, I would highly suggest it.
