Treasure in Heaven

Jesus says we should store up for ourselves treasure in heaven. I assume that He is speaking collectively of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy; am I thinking correctly? Can anyone recommend a resource, book or tape or an online reference that specifically discusses the subject of treasure in heaven in detail?
