Tridentine Mass question! St. John Cantius Church

I will be attending St. John Cantius Parish with a few friends of mine next Sunday Oct. 23rd for their 11:30 High Mass.
I’m really excited since I’ve never been to any other Mass except for Novus Ordo (and I get excited when there’s a choir lol there’s not much to choose from around here, though I’m happy with my Parish now)
So for me and my friends, this is going to be a completely new experience. My question is particularly this: Do they provide like, Missalettes or any leaflets to follow along with? Where can I go to get the Propers and the Ordinary for the High Mass in a printable version if it is not provided?
I expect to have to be there pretty early to get a seat (this Church is like an uber parish from what I know lol) but really, that’s all I expect. I know next to nothing about the tridentine latin mass. Please any relevant information would be greatly appreciated!!

You are in for a treat then. The High Mass is so very beautiful and reverent. It won’t be that foreign to you, I am sure…

There should be “red books” prvoided. This is similar to a missalette that you would see in a NO Church. It has everything, but the propers.
Where can I go to get the Propers and the Ordinary for the High Mass in a printable version if it is not provided?

Remember it’s much more quiet in the majority of TLMs that I have assisted at when compared to NO parishes.

It may be a “dialogue Mass” where you will respsond along with the servers or it may not be, in which case only the servers will be responding.

Don’t try to follow along too hard. It’s a little tough at the beginning and you will probably just be reading your missal instead of paying attention if you try to follow along. I would siggest reading over the ordinary that I linked to get a littl familiar with it before you go.

When I first converted I wanted to check out a TLM. It nagged at me from the start of my life in the Church. I finally went, and I haven’t been back to but a handful of NO Masses since. In my opinion and the opinion of many, many others, there is nothing more reverent than the TLM. It’s truly a beautiful experience.
 
Oh, and here’s a link to a great website where they go into detail about what is going on with different parts of the Mass. It’s very informative.
 
Like visiting any liturgy you haven’t attended before. I wouldn’t recommend following the book to carefully. You’ll miss what’s going on up at the Altar. You don’t really need to worry about responding to anything… since you “hear mass.” So just watch.

Haha, so everyone has the read books? Ours has the propers as an insert. 😛

I remember the first Tridentine Mass I went to. I had no idea what to expect and I kept having to look over the shoulder of the little girl in front of me to see where we were in the missallette (red book). I loved it so much I’ve gone every Sunday since 👍

I’d love to see it offered in such a beautiful church. It’s offered at my parish (Cathedral) but we have to have it in the little side chapel. It is kind of bare, no high altar at all and no altar rails, but we make do. It’s still the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven 🙂

Are ou sure it will be a Tridentine Mass? They also do Latin Novus Ordo Masses.
 
St. John Cantius in Chicago? I go to that church once in a while. They have booklets at the front of the church, the red ones…to follow the mass, it has the latin responses, etc.

I hope that Mordecai sees this since he plans to go at 11 :30 rather than 12 :30. Maybe he should check their website to be sure.

I went down for a visit during the summer. I’ll be going down for another visit probably at Christmas and then probably again during Lent. I’ll have to decide this summer whether do join now or continue school. Thanks!
