What doctrines do most Trinitarian Pentecostals get wrong besides the obvious things like sola scriptura and sola fide? 🤷:confused:
 
I have to think about it awhile. It seems to me Pentecostalism’s main mistake is in its assuming we have to recreate the church from scratch. Adding to that the idea of the office of prophet (which probably not all share) and the result is that any idea could imaginably take hold and gain a following.
 
Holly, considering the various other posts you’ve made, you might do well to study the Catholic faith more thouroughly than worry about non-Catholic ones.

So you dont believe in the fivefold ministry?

What Pentacostals get right is a living relationship with the Most High God. A relationship which turns to His Spirit for everything they do.

Pentecostals come in different flavors. One belief that they all appear to have in common is that unless a person speaks in tongues, he is has not received the Holy Spirit. Only those who show evidence of speaking in tongues are allowed to hold positions of authority in most Pentecostal churches. They often point to examples in the Book of Acts as proof of this doctrine.

One passage of Sacred Scripture that appears to contradict this belief:

Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues?

(1 Corinthians 12:29-30)

The answer to each question appears to be no.

Prophecy exists, but if the church has to be rebuilt from scratch, anyone could come down the pike and announce himself the prophet with the plan for the church – structure, morality, doctrines of all kinds – and make up a church to suit himself. That’s a common occurrence in Pentecostalism, from what I noticed while in it. Sure, people test prophecies by the Bible. But it’s an overwhelming task for most of us.

If you couldnt pick out the phonies from the real I question whether you ever recieved the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
