Friends from other faiths have told me that the Bible teaches that the members of the Godhead (The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit) are three separate beings, however, are one in purpose but have distinct roles. They have quoted the following scriptures to back up their claims:

Genesis 1:26–27 (Let “us” make man in our image…after “our” likeness)
Matthew 17:1–5 (Bright cloud spoke to Jesus that he is beloved Son)
Acts 7:55–56 (Jesus standing on right hand of God)

Please help me understand how these scriptures do not support their claims that the Godhead are three separate beings so I can have more meaningful conversations with them. Thank you!

The passages speak pf “persons”, not of “natures”. There is one Nature (God) in three Persons. The great commission gives testimony to this, when Christ says to baptize all nations in the NAME [singular] of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit [three Persons].
