I am currently in RCIA classes. I was baptized many years ago when I was 15 in the Church of Christ. I have been assured by the priest and deacon this is considered valid, but I seem to recall that the CofC does not use a triune formula and does not believe in the Trinity. However, as I have not attended CofC in about 25 years I honestly am not certain. Does anyone know offhand if the CofC baptism is considered valid for those converting to Catholicism?

If the Church of Christ believes in the Trinity and uses the trinitarian formula for baptism, I don’t see any reason for concern. If they reject the Trinity or they do not use the trinitarian formula, the baptism would be invalid. Since you’re concerned about this, I suggest you ask your priest if you can be conditionally baptized.

your diocese has already investigated, and your priest consulted them, so if he says it is okay, it is okay. relax. Welcome Home.

After I asked the question I investigated a bit online myself–it seems I must have been wrong. From what I read, they DO use a triune formula after all. Not sure where I got the idea they did not. However, thanks very much for the posts–I am so glad to have found the Faith.

And no, it was definitely NOT the LDS.
