Dear Brothers and Sisters,

There is much to be learned from this little book by St. Louis de Montfort. We can see much of what St. Louis wrote in the 1700’s in today’s culture and I would dare to say we find some things even worse!
  1. Diabolical wisdom is the love and esteem of honours. This is the wisdom of the worldly-wise who, secretly, of course, long for distinctions, honours, dignities and high offices. They strive to be seen, esteemed, praised and applauded by men. In their studies, their work, their undertakings, their words and actions, all they want is the esteem and praise of men, to be reputed as devout or learned people, as great leaders, eminent lawyers, men of great and distinguished merit or deserving of high consideration. They cannot bear insult or blame and so they hide their shortcomings and parade their better qualities.
  2. We must, like our Lord Jesus Christ, incarnate Wisdom, detest and condemn these three kinds of false wisdom if we are to possess the true one, which is not self-seeking, not found in the world nor in the heart of those who lead a comfortable life, and which loathes everything that men consider great and noble.
Mary our Mother, given to us by Jesus from His Cross on Calvary is both Mother and Model for the Church. Mary kept all Jesus said and did and pondered all in her heart. When Jesus began His Ministry, Mary told the servants at the Wedding in Cana, before He performed His first miracle:
“Do whatever He tells you”
In her apparitions, since then, Mary continues this message – but how many of us listen
to His Word in Scripture, and how many ponder as Mary pondered in her heart, all we hear? How many are asking, seeking, and knocking on the door for His Grace to do the Truth we hear? How many like St. Louis de Montfort, detest false wisdom or even recognize it in ourselves or in others?

Come Holy Spirit, fill us as you filled Mary. Jesus, Eternal Wisdom, we trust in You! Mary, our Mother and Model, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.
