I have been reading the True Devotion to Mary and have a question regarding prayers to Saints. If you make the concentration, does this mean you should only direct prayers to Jesus through Mary, and not any other Saint? For instance, could I continue any prayers of healing I currently make to Saint Perigrine?

I appreciate any insight anyone could provide on this!

You are still free to pray to any saints you like. I did the Consecration a couple years ago and I still pray to lots of saints.

Dear ma_coffee_guy,

Good for you – I hope you will continue reading True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary by St. Louis de Montfort. This can be a truly “Life-Changing” book for anyone, as it was for St. John Paul II and for the Servant of God Frank Duff and for others. St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta recommended this book to her Missionaries of Charity also.

It is a book you need to read prayerfully and more than once because the more you read De Montfort and surely after you make the 33 days of Preparation before praying his prayer of Consecration to Jesus through Mary, you will find yourself growing closer to Jesus through Mary and wanting to to learn from the Holy Spirit more and more.

At least that has been my own experience. Others have answered your question about praying to other saints and I totally agree that God delights in his Children helping one another. The Church is the Mystical Body of Christ and as members of His Body we are intended to grow together and help build up the Body in Love.

Thanks for your question and please keep praying and reading to learn more. St. John Paul II and Servant of God Frank Duff (who founded the Legion of Mary) both read True devotion more than once. In fact, Frank Duff wrote an article on how he read it several times before, by God’s Grace, he came to realize it was true! 🙂 You can read his article HERE
