Just curious, but what do others think true happiness is. I always though it meant being content even when your outside circumstances are no good. Or being able to trust God is taking care of you in the darkness.
I have even heard that people who spend time helping others gained happiness through it.
Right now, I am just having one of those days where I am feeling left out and useless.
I went to a funeral home today. I am a friend of the families. And to my surprise, they seemed to be comforted by some of the things I said and I felt very welcomed.
But the truth is, I just started a new job where I am the new girl and I am always going along with the way things have always been done. Personally, I don’t think these people always work in the most productive manner but I go along with it because I don’t want them to resent the new girl changing things. I also bite my tongue when they all talk about their new age beliefs but secretly resent I can’t talk about my catholic beliefs for fear of being shunned.
Or even lately, some friends have been busy and I am being understanding that they have a life without me but I do kind of feel left out at times.
It just feels like lately I have been trying to be the good person and understand others but nothing seems t be coming my way and frankly, it is just wearing me out. I don’t feel proud of a job well done.
Do other people ever go through this?
I even remember years ago volunteering in a home for adults with special needs. They were basically confined to wheel chairs and couldn’t even speak. I remember hoping I would feel some joy in knowing I helped. The more time I spent with them, the more bored I became.
I really would love to believe that giving brings joy, but right now, it just seems to bring feeling used
