I wasn’t sure where to put this, but feel it is of importance for some Catholics and like-minded Christians to read. These are some thoughts I had tonight, pondering the way of society. They may help some people in dealing with certain situations regarding being yelled at or criticized for their beliefs, especially if at random.

True love, truth and kindness severely “threaten” those opposed to them. They believe as they believe–in a kind of transient and for the most part conditional “love,” “truth” and “kindness.” They indulge themselves in all manner of sins, with consciences formed as they please them to be formed and or how society would have it formed and tend to feel peaceful and happy for a time, albeit perhaps uneasy because we don’t agree with their lifestyles, even if we say nothing to them about it. Many like to tell us “how it is,” but not to dare tell them how it is and for the most part their minds are made up anyway

Mostly, to their faces, the best we can do if they yell at, scream at or criticize us about our beliefs, is to be like Jesus when He was handed over to Pontious Pilate–mostly silent. They are mostly deaf to us and most who are not like to twist our words and use them against us. In fact, unspoken truth may be believed by many to be "the most threatening variety. It gives them nothing to yell at or scream at without risking looking like a jerk, after all.

You raise some interesting points about the threat as this is perceived by what I presume is the world’s Evil. I think you could have also said that evil has adapted, or increased the available stride of its attack, and tests us by making inordinate demands of us. E.g. Pushing our patience and forgiveness to our personal limit. Demanding that you yourself “Get big or get out”, when your bigness means pushy-ness and aggressiveness with others less fortunate than ourselves. But then again ChibiViolet, that is the same old evil. It’s purpose is only to make us more resolute and firm…to pray for deliverance.

What is Truth ? , there was a Thread with this question,
A question which is I think relevant to your Question ,

Hmm. I suppose for a person whose “conscience” is dictated by the fashions of the world, dissenting voices would actually be quite unpleasant. To them, every person they meet must be like a walking Catechism, directing them on how to act. And then when they don’t agree! Imagine if (though thankfully it’s impossible!) you were trying to be a good Catholic and every copy of the Catechism you checked said something different. It might make you quite irritable! “No, most of the copies I checked said this, so yours must be wrong! Just change it so we can have peace already!”

Perhaps we should be thankful that the Lord gave us a healthy dose of NOT CARING WHAT THE WORLD THINKS!

I thought this might give a direction not often heard.

A reworked version of “The Paradoxical Commandments” written by Dr. Kent M. Keith is written on the wall in Mother Teresa’s home for children in Calcutta.
This version is credited to Mother Teresa:

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
