No, he identifies as a Presbyterian, although he married his current wife Melania in the Episcopal Church.

Although Trump has never expressed any negative opinions about Catholics, he has stated his admiration for the late Protestant minister Norman Vincent Peale, who was vocally anti-Catholic (although in his defence I don’t even know if Trump is aware of this).
Possibly not. NVP (the renowned author of the “Positive Thinking” books in the 1900s) even spoke at my Catholic HS in 1987. It would seem that his anti-Catholicism was not well known.

Thanks for the info. I concur, he probably is not aware of Peale’s views.

Mr, Trump has been attempting to buy the presidency for many election cycles now. He hit a nerve of hate and resentment with his statements against immigrants from our southern border. Hate speech should not give him credibility as a candidate. We have seen where that has led people in the past.

Furthermore, his criticism of Sen. McCain, and attack on POWs, shows his disrespect for our military and lack of character. He certainly doesn’t deserve to be Commander-in-Chief with that attitude.

His speech is similar to that of others in history. Mexico is sending us murderers and rapist, but we need the Christian immigrant from the Middle East? It sounds like he is using the word “Christian” the way most do in the U.S., meaning, Christian but not Catholic, making the Catholics the group with the murderers and rapists.

I would not vote for Trump if he was the only one running.

The fact that Mexicans are mainly Catholic may be coincidental. I think in the case of Trump, it may be more of a Hispanic/Latino thing than a Catholic one. Or maybe his negative attitude is just confined to Mexicans.

Perhaps you are right. Still, making the bad guys out of a race of people, associating with rapists, murders, and maybe even some good guys mixed in, setting this race up to be what is wrong with the country. Doesn’t this ring a little familiar with you?

No, I am not condoning Trump in any way. This remark and the one about McCain are both as insensitive and foolish, politically, as they come.
