I have alot of anxiety in my life right now because of some people close to me who are on paths of self-destruction. I am always worried that I am not doing enough to help them make better choices. In the Catholic books I have read on God’s will and Divine Providence, they say we are to trust in God and follow His will, and we will have peace in our soul. I don’t have peace because of the choices other people have made or are making. Does that mean I am not trusting God?

Worries and anxieties are part of normal human nature, especially while dealing with the welfares of loved ones. But we don’t want to be overtaken by such worries.

I once discussed certain anxiety with my spiritual director. He said when we worry too much, we are trying to control things. We ought to trust God and believe he is always in charge.

“Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your request known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. ” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Keep on praying for your loved ones, then let go and let God.
