What reliable facts about abortion before Roe vs. Wade? Abortionists claimed that 86% of women were killed by illegal abortion.

does it matter?, i don’t feel sorry for someone who dies in the act of committing murder.

This is a pretty good starting point for that data…

Also, Bernard Nathanson, one of the chief architects of the drive to legalize abortion across the US, has admitted that the claims of “tens of thousands” of women dying each year from “back-alley” abortions was entirely made up.

It matters to find the truth behind the claim that leading cause of death of women prior to Roe vs. Wade is abortion. I have not found any sources yet about it.

However, I like anything that gives a unbias facts about it. It concerns me very much. I do believe the majority of the American public have been deceived by the Pro-Choice Movement by sending out false information to the general public.

I suggest Randy Alcorn’s book Pro-Life Answers to Pro-Choice Arguments.

He’s got all the statistics about the illegal abortion deaths lie. The majority of women who died from abortions prior to the 1960s died from infections. Antibiotics pretty much put an end to that starting in the 1960s.

And, Alcorn also gives the statistics for those who die from *legal *abortions.

And, looking up Bernard Nathanson is also worthwhile as he now states he made up the numbers given out in the years prior to 1973 as a scare tactic.

I’ve always been puzzled about how ectopic pregnancies (ie. ones where the baby implanted in places other than the woman’s uterus – ovary, Fallopian tube, etc – and which will kill her if nothing is done; I had a co-worker who nearly died of an ectopic pregnancy and had to have the baby surgically removed) prior to Roe v. Wade. Anyone know?

I’m not really sure what your question is.

off topic, but search ectopic on this forum it has been discussed multiple times. also true stats on abortion before and after RvW have been cited and linked several times, search if you really want to explore,

I mean, did doctors treat it surgically? because there’s only one way to treat the condition, and sadly, the procedure results in the baby dying, and even now, we don’t have the treatment available to implant the baby inside the mom’s uterus.

Actually it was legal to perform an abortion if the mother’s life was in severe danger – the specifics varied by state. And many states allowed abortion up to three months without danger to the mother as a prerequisite, too. Many women traveled to have abortions. It was widely believed that babies had no sensations or awareness before three months, and herefore some people saw them as human and some didn’t. The irony is that as we have watched abortion become legal at increasingly late stages, we have simultaneously learned that children develop much faster than we had dreamed possible. But in the case of ectopic pregnancy, some do end up getting out of the tube and surviving. Therefore it’s not a guaranteed death for either patient.

Read Nathanson’s book, Aborting America." He admits that when the statistics weren’t ‘bad’ enough to justify legalizing abortion, they just made up their own. The media bought it. Lies published often enough are accepted as the truth.
