Trying to get protestant ministry to debate Catholic answers

So, I was wasting time on youtube, as it is my day off. I came across a page called “Living waters” There were these two men, evangelical protestant, talking about if Catholics worship Mary or not. I have seen these before. So what, right? In their view, they know Catholics think they dont, be we do or something lol.

I looked at some of their other videos and found something that makes me angry. They have several videos of them approaching Catholics on the street and basically trying to convert them to protestantism. I saw them trying to proselytize a beautiful young Catholic girl who obviously was not a apologist so she was no match for these two men. That angered me, I could not even watch the video all the way through. And they have several videos like this.

The men are not rude, just convinced Catholics are wrong. So I went to their website and sent a email. I asked them to contact Catholic answers and get a debate going with a Catholic apologist or at least a on air talk. I did it politely. I was not rude at all in my email. It is sad that they could turn away Catholics who do not know how to defend their faith. I think they should have a dose of their own medicine if Jimmy Akin or Patrick Madrid could refute every singe time they challenge our beliefs with a out of context Bible verse and challenge their interpretation of scripture. Wouldnt that be great?

Their page is Livingwaters.com. and their youtube name is the same. On their youtube video history you can see how much they seem to target Catholics in their “evangelism”

(edit): CAF I deleted the email address. If this thread is against forum rules, please delete and I wont do it again. It was not my intentions to break any rules.

Moving this to evangelization, however, I would suggest removing the email address. That can be considered aggressive in internet courtesy.

Remember, Christ never commanded us to go overflow email systems, He called us to be light and love.

Fair enough. I deleted the email address but still left the website. I can not delete my post for some reason (I tried) so Catholic answers can do it for me if they deem this inappropriate. I sent a email so maybe only mine will do it. Although I doubt it. I also changed the thread name. I realize it did sound a little like a rally call. I just would love to see a future debate, that is all.

I feel sorry for folks like them. Their own denominations’ traditions are so shallow or non-existent that they find a sense of accomplishment by trying to collect Catholics as trophies. It sounds like they bullied the girl in the video.

Which is why I would love to see them engaged in a Debate with someone who can actually stand up for Catholicism and even challenge their beliefs. I can almost guarantee they have never had their biblical interpretations challenged and this has made them more convinced of their correctness even though they are wrong on so many things.

I would like to see a debate also. I did go to the website and noticed Ray Comfort there. He used to work with Kirk Cameron. Ray Comfort is extremely antiCatholic or at least he was when doing videos with Kirk Cameron.

A good thing to do is pray for them also.

They treat the Bible as if it fell directly from the sky. As if there was no oral teaching and preaching beforehand, no Christian traditions or beliefs that were passed down independent of Scripture. This type of thinking and belief system confines them to a narrow spirituality, actually one that is childlike or even naive in nature. Every time they see or hear something that’s “not in the Bible,” they become aggressive in denouncing it. There is not much breadth to their beliefs, no sense of connecting actual history to Scripture, certainly no meaningful connection of Judaism to Christianity or the concept of typology between the Old and New Testaments. And despite their belief that they are following the divine Word of God, they actually vacate the Bible of its supernatural provenance, because to them it becomes more like an instruction booklet subject to their interpretations of what constitutes authentic Christian belief, rather than a living history of God’s desire to offer salvation to mankind.

Exactly! I have yet to meet someone who was brought to the Faith from online debate.

Prayer should go without saying. However, although I do not think I know anyone who converted by online debate either, the scores of information on Catholic apologetics online, was greatly influential in my personal conversion from protestantism. I have personally known many people that by reading and watching information put out by knowledgeable Catholics online has helped them get deeper into their faith and ultimately have a better relationship with God. That includes watching and engaging in debates. Debates that are recorded and put online can help non Catholics see things from another point of view. Lots of people are happy as protestants, have no reason to seek a point of view different from their own and will not be converted by the influence of a Catholic in real life (as in not online). Much like for myself (I did not even know any practicing Catholics in real life except for one Deacon) it takes a intellectual conversion. Once I saw that protestant apologetics could not stand up to the scrutiny of Catholicism, It was easier to convert
