Prayers going out. For what it’s worth, if you are a native English speaker, German is not that difficult. I managed a decent level of conversation teaching myself out of a children’s instruction book when I was seven years old, and I am by no means an intellectual giant. The biggest problem I had, in addition to memorising which words took der, die & das, was getting used to the verb coming at the end of the sentence. Some of those hundred-word philosophy sentences are impenetrable until you reach the end! Anyway, I think you will do well. I had much more trouble with the Romance languages due to their great difference from English than I did with German. Dutch is also reasonably simple to learn.

Try the Duolingo app. I used it to practice my Spanish after immersion and I’ve been using it to learn French the last few months. You only have to play about 20 minutes a day and you learn very quickly. It’s set up like a game so it’s very easy to get into and stick with.

college. it was hard. Spanish was much easier than German.

I took Spanish in highschool (I was homeschooled during that time)

French is easier than German for me.
Same here. I managed to achieve fluency enough to have a simple conversation in French in less than six months.
I gave up on German in 3 months and don’t plan to ever start again

I want to learn French too. since it is another romance languahe I think it would be easy for me like Spanish was. I watch French investigative shows on Netflix and have picked up quite a bit.
