I have no way to verify this, but the numbers quoted in article seem to be unrealistically low. There are numerous communities, including Greek Orthodox, Syriacs, Chaldeans/Assyrians, Armenians, etc. From what I’ve seen, the Armenian community in Istanbul alone is estimated to number at least 50k. Perhaps the article refers only to those in union with Rome? 🤷
