I would love to get EWTN in our home, but have declined due to the extra “junk” that comes with cable. I have two teenagers, (14 and 15 yrs. old) two grown adult “kids” (19 and 20 year olds) and a nine year old at home in our family. I don’t always approve of what the older ones want to watch so cable may not be good for our home, but I really desire the good programming of EWTN. Anyone with TV dilemas in their house with such a mixture of ages?

Do not get Cable TV. Lots of problems will come with it !
All i know is that when we got rid of cable tv - it was like a large weight was lifted off my shoulders. i was very relieved to have it gone even though i loved to watch many shows. the best alternative is to listen to catholic radio. they have radio shows for kids and teens. you can go to ewtn.com to check their programs.

Don’t get cable just for the EWTN.

If there’s something you want to watch, watch it online. (We watched the canonization of St. Jozef Pelczar online!)

Otherwise, there is nothing on EWTN that is worth paying a cable company the money to pump all the extra garbage into your house.

I know others will disagree, and that’s fine.

There is nothing BAD about not having cable TV in the house!! If it means no EWTN, then pray on your own, read on your own, and listen to tapes of Catholic speakers!

I’m really illiterate about matters of technology, but don’t the newer TVs have a chip you can block stuff with?

If you just want to watch EWTN, you can always watch it live on their website.
Not with dialup you can’t. :crying:

We have nobody but us two, so we take our chances with DirectTV. Second the recommendation on Sky Angel; it has Catholic Familyland.

Check out www.skyangel.com It seems like a good option.
After checking this webpage out, it does look like it has some very good programming so thanks for the info., but there seems to be something missing–Catholic programming.

I think there is also an effort afoot to allow cable companies to “unbundle” their offerings so that you can choose your viewing channels ala carte. Keep an eye on your newspaper or check with your congressman for information and to support this legislation. Might allow us all to vote with our wallets and leave the trash at the curb where it belongs. 👍
