TWO FAMILYS

Family #1: Both parents attend Mass every week; confession every two weeks; pray family Rosary every night, and pray before & after meals. Their child is baptised, confirmed; attended Catholic elementary, high school & college. Childs close friends are those he/she met in school & college.
Family #2: Parents attend Mass & Confession once a year or not at all. They argue and have drinking problems. Child is baptised and confirmed but rarely attend Mass. Child attends public schools. Friends are those from school or college; some of them are trouble-makers: love to drink, smoke pot, dance & be merry. Loves to party more than go to Church.
Now, which of the family children may turn out to be in favor in Gods eyes? Which parents will be rewarded in heaven for bringing up their children as responsible parents ?
A childs life is greatly influenced by their parents and the friends they associate with. I can testify to that as to learning the hard way, 'cause I lived it, as I’m sure so have we all?

But if you have the perfect life, how much less of a chance you have to improve in God’s eyes. I thank God for all my sufferings and ingratitudes, for they allowed me to hit rock bottom and then LOOK UP to see the Glory of God. How beautiful it is when one sinner repents, as opposed to those already united to God. I believe God loves us all, and continually strives to bring us to Him. The journey, the path, is different for all. Parents, yes, have a responsibility, but we need to respect them as we respect the Father, even if we weren’t given the same education as others around us.

If we know more, the more we are responsible for.

I agree. I too was in the Family #2 group & have gone through many many hardships to find myself today; and am glad theres a hard-way as to an easy way; the important thing is to finally come around to the truth. The Family #1 group will still have their hardships 'cause theres no perfect people (except the Holy Father). Just sugesting that the #2 child will be lost if they do not get the guidence to change their ways; and help from parents & friends will certainly help.

The parents in family #1 are not guaranteed to have perfect Catholic kids. You can do everything right and your kids will still rebel.

My uncle’s family was similar to family #1 and his daughter is an alcoholic who has had several DUI’s.

The key is to always pray for your children and have hope that no matter what road they end up on, it will eventually lead them to God.
