Would you please clarify what the passage means Luke 24:4-while they were puzzling over this, behold, two men in dazzling garments appeared to them. If St. Luke was talking about angels, why did he say men?
Gen 18:1 And the Lord appeared to him in the vale of Mambre as he was sitting at the door of his tent, in the very heat of the day.
Gen 18:2 And when he had lifted up his eyes, there appeared to him three men standing near to him: and as soon as he saw them, he ran to meet them from the door of his tent, and adored down to the ground. (DRB)
In order to even be seen by humans, angels, which are pure spirits, must take on the appearance of men. The gospel writer simply described what he saw or what was reported to him. If you ever see an angel, it will not be in its pure angelic form. Otherwise you would not see it.
