Planned Parenthood shouldn’t get a penny…

But let’s not be naive… the NRA gets all sorts of benefits from the politicians in their pockets

I really don’t like the line of thinking promoted by those articles.

You can see it right here at CAF, over in the various gun threads in World News.

It’s basically saying that gun violence doesn’t matter as long as abortion is legal and all too frequent in the United States.

It’s saying that anyone who cares about gun violence, or who works towards achieving any kind of gun regulation, is a hypocrite, because, I guess, they really should be working towards ending abortion.

It’s a diversionary tactic, straight out of the NRA playbook.

I don’t get it. How is, “the NRA donates money to politicians,” an answe to the question, “What benefits does the NRA get for donating money to politicians?”

Fully agree.

Planned Parenthood should be done away with.

The NRA needs to be reigned significantly and the ability to buy politicians shut down. I would say the same thing for all special interest groups and lobbies that corrupt our electoral process

If you are serious about "the same thing for all special interest groups and lobbies, you might want to start at the top of the list, rather than at #472 in the ranking – that is the NRA's current rank.

Given the respective amounts, the NRA is hardly “buying politicians,” except perhaps the leftovers that the likes of Alphabet Inc (Google), AT&T, Boeing, DuPont, ComCast, Lockheed, Amazon, Open Society Policy Center, etc., etc., haven’t gobbled up.

I see George Soros(Open Society Policy Center)right at the top. 😒
I was looking at that to see if it was the same one. Haven’t confirmed yet.

Edit:

Confirmed:

This topic is wrong on so many levels. You are litterly advocating voting for one party to kill one group of kids to vs another instead of… Idk fixing both?

Also advocate groups are just corrupt in general.

Some more perspective:

Pharmaceuticals and biotechs spent $144,778,982 on lobbying in the first eight months of 2017, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Whereas, the NRA has spent $3.2 million on lobbying from January 1 to June 30, 2017, and that was up substantially from the year prior.

Not sure who this reply was aimed at, but the point I am making is that lobbying is occurring on all sides, including the side that is protesting gun rights.

That is precisely why decisions should not be made based upon emotional appeals driven by politically affiliated groups on both sides.

The misinformation is that the NRA basically owns the Republican party – hardly the case given how much other special interest groups have invested in politicians.

Just to compare: the Open Society Policy Center spent more than 5 times the amount the NRA did. Their intention is to dismantle nations by advocating for borderless societies and open immigration.

We have gun regulation. The problem is that sometimes people don’t actually do their jobs… who’da thunk it?

We have gun regulation. The problem is that people are so worried that their physical/mental condition will be known that critical information gets missed in the firearm purchase process. How many of these folks have we heard about that have various mental illnesses, but that information doesn’t seem to get where it needs to go.

We have gun regulation. However, remember the de-emphasis on prosecuting gun/drug crimes, etc. in the previous administration… Bob, the multi-time felon won’t be out shooting up the town with a Glock/AR/AK if he is sitting in a prison for a real, actual sentence. Heck, I’ve seen judges allow multi-time felons to dictate to the court what happens to the numerous firearms that they are arrested with ('cause, you know, their buddies would never give the weapons back to them).

Perhaps, what we need is mentally ill people regulation. Bring back asylums, while bad things happened in asylums, they happen on the street too; except that on the street, they are a danger to others as well.

Perhaps, what we need is criminal regulation. You commit a violent crime, you spend a lengthy amount of time in jail, with real truth in sentencing. You commit a second violent crime, well, you leave the prison in a rubber zip-up bag. Also, need to enhance drug sentences for drug pushers; have seen various situations where druggies turn to thieves, and then to violent offenders. Shockingly, a gang-banger can’t do a drive-by when he’s serving 20 years for slinging heroin, crack, and who knows what else.

I probably spend more than that on firearms/ammo/etc. per year 😛

My new Sig 1911 in 10mm Auto comes in tomorrow 🙂

Such as? I’m a life member. I certainly don’t get kick backs.
