I was reading the website of some Basilica in the US, and it noted that their church is not a parish church.
I thought that all churches were parishes, and the only distinctions that existed were regarding Cathedrals and Basilicas; but I thought all of them are still parishes.
What kinds of churches other than parishes are there? I don’t mean the designation of Cathedral and Basilica – I already know that like the back of my hand. But, when is a church not a parish church? Is it outlined in Canon Law?
