Types of religious orders?

can someone give me a summary, or resources to the different types of orders that one could join?

i am a female, if that helps narrow it down.

there are really so many and it gets confusing

Well, I think maybe a better thing to identify first would be, what gifts and talents has God blessed u with which could be best utilized in the service of the Church?

Do u like to teach/preach, pray, interact with the poor, do missionary work, do penance, pray the Divine Office, do u prefer a cloistered community, etc.? That could help narrow it down for u.

Also, if u are really thinking seriously about this, I hope that u will get a spiritual director so that he can properly guide u in your discernment.

And sorry I don’t know of a good web site that lists the various orders and summaries of them, but I’m sure someone here knows and can help u with that. 🙂

I’m your gal. 😉 I’ve used this website so many times, and it lists just about every single order for women in the US: womenreligiousorders.blogspot.com/

I’ve also used this website, as it also lists a couple of orders outside of the US: catholiclinks.org/women.htm
