This is probably a stupid question but I was thinking about it…

theres
hetrosexuals-attracted to the opposite sex
homosexual-attracted to the same sex
bisexual-liking both sexes
metrosexual-acting like the opposite sex without being homo/bisexual

well is there such a thing as nonsexual, somone who isn’t attracted to people no matter the gender?
 
There is no such thing as a metrosexual, that’s just a pop-culture buzzword used to refer to a male who is excessively vain, his appearance is all he thinks about.
There are people who claim to be asexual, not attracted to anyone.
There are some who claim to be transsexual, and take measures to surgically alter their bodies.

ALL are called to chastity, even metrosexuals. 😃

Those would just be people with a lower sex-drive, or given the intensely over-saturated sexuality of our current culture, they may just be sick and tired of hearing about it.
 
well according to Jesus when addressing the question of marriage in heaven, taught that those worthy of the ressurection aren’t given in marriage because they will no longer die. So in that sense a ressurected man is no longer male in the sense that his maleness is completed by a womans femaleness, and visa versa. In that light I would say that the glorified state of life is nonsexual.
 
I agree that there will be no marriage in heaven; however, we will retain our gender. In fact, I believe that we will retain in heaven the special relationships we had here on earth–wives, husbands, families, friends, will know each other as such, although those relationships wiill be perfected by our unity in the beatific vision and the communion of saints.
 
asexuality is definitely a real phenomenon. Just a month or so ago there was a study on it that got alot of coverage in the news. All the study really did was give the stats on how many asexuals there are in the general population (it was less than 5%). There’s also an advocacy group for asexuals, they even make a T-shirt that says “Asexuality - it’s not just for ameobas!” While I think it’s distasteful to identify oneself in terms of one’s sexuality (or lack thereof), I have to admire asexuals for sticking to their guns in our lust-saturated society.

Jim, I agree 100% What will render us nonsexual is that the source of what makes our gender complete and gives it meaning will no longer be it’s counterpart. It will find it’s of purpose in God alone.

Here on earth a person may live a life that is a sign of that heavenly life, but the meaning of that persons gender will continue to be it’s counterpart. I believe that the gift of celibacy is just that, our gender loses it’s earthly meaning finds it to a degree in God.

I would say a priest is asexual because He is manifesting life in response to the need to reproduce it within the order of death.

Sort of like most of us in this forum.
 
Yes Meggie, there are people who aren’t interested in sex at all. That could be a phase they are going through, or they may be that way their whole life.

Must be a sign of the times. Our own society seems to think such a fixation is normal. But other societies would consider ours an aberration.

our value as human beings is shifting from the value of a soul which is eternal to the value of a body which is determined by breedability.

The vows of marriage are shifting from a giving of self and the recieving of another as a gift. To a selling of self as a marketable commodity and a buying of another as a product to be used.

The former are free the latter are slave traders of their own flesh.

No one will be able to buy or sell unless they have the mark of the beast.

I think the proper way to describe our current culture is pan sexuality. Almost anything goes. We self define our gender and sexuality based on feelings and pop culture brainwashing. Much of it can be traced back to the mass acceptence of birth control in the early 1960s.
 
i am somewhat asexual, or more likely just have a lower drive than most. i have attraction to the oppisite sex, but little or no desire to pursue it.
 
That’s kind of odd, Brian. Are you able to empregnant yourself?
