Dear Friends,

I was just doing a bit of browsing and I stumbled upon something very interesting. To my knowledge interaction between U.S Executives and Eastern Catholic Hierarchy was something unheard of but it seems that Moron Mor Ivanios, first Head and Father of the Syro Malankara Church met with U.S President Harry S. Truman in 1948. I am very curious to know what this meeting was about, if anyone has information please do share.

This is a link to the Truman Library archives that dates the event:

Interesting, God Bless, Memaw

I’d be guarded about whatever actions he took. Not totally closed, just guarded. Truman had 1 great legacy. He preserved and protected a large part of land, 1 million acres we now know today as the Florida Everglades. Had he not done that, this land would have been decimated by development.
However, Truman was also a devout Freemason, and this is where we Catholics would have to be on our guard about whatever proposals if any were made towards the Catholic Church.
