Hello All,

I am Actively saught out at work for “Evangelisation”, me being the heathen Catholic and all. Anyway, I am in an open dialogue with a woman, who goes to a local non-denomational church. I am not sure how deep anything I say will sink and am kind of a dead end with her ( I think it may be more of a wits end though), because she brings up verses and seems to have a wierd idea of them.
Then a couple of days ago she kinda dropped a bomb on me. It goes back to a book I read as a teen ( from the public library) about UFO’s and something I had considered. A kind of slap in the face from my past. In Ezekiel’s vision (Ez 1) he writes about God’s coming and goings, the Angels, and all the other parts of the vision. She says that she believes that the “vehicle” that God approaches on is a UFO or spaceship and that the angels are aliens.
I tried to give it a go on explaining what the inhabitants of heaven were and what their jobs are and how God might “get around”, but I don’t think that I got anywhere. She pretty much stuck-to-her-guns. Is there anything else I could say about this? I am always unsure of myself in these types of talks that I may have just fowled the whole thing up. Any help would be appreciated.

God Bless You All,
Matthew

Unfortunately people who ascribe to conspiracy theories and these other schools of thoughts that tend to make the less informed feel like they have some kind of juicy “insider information” are hard to reason with. People give up these pet theories with difficulty, since they want to believe it so badly.

If this person is also a Christian, one thing that you might do is research the passages she is referring to and give her the Scriptural explanation. It might take some work, but she might find it sufficiently interesting that it might break some of the hold her theories have on her. Good luck.

the history channel had an show on this. It went through the bible and tried to explain any miracles as extraterrestrial.

The kicker was that get this enoch was not assummed to heaven…he was beamed up :whacky:

It was really sad, people say you can’t belive in miracles in the bible because you can prove them but can belive in UFO even though you can’t prove it :banghead:

Matthew,

Was the book in the “Chariots of the Gods” series by Erich von Daniken? If so, it’s pretty well established that his historical interpretations and science are bunk. There was an excellent book called “Crash Go the Chariots” that came out a few years after von Daniken’s series appeared.

This famous quote came to mind:
We should clear up a few popular misconceptions at this stage, misconceptions largely propagated by the works of wilfully ignorant authors such as Erich von Daniken, who surely must hold the distinction of being more wrong about more things than any other person on Earth.

Dear friend

Ask her why God, who can create planets at will and Who is Omnipresent, would have any use whatsoever for a space-craft?

Sorry I am using all of my will power not to laugh and I think you’ve done a sterling job in keeping a straight face with this woman! I suppose Jesus did not ascend into heaven it was more a case of ‘Beam me up Scottie’ PLEASSSSSSSSSE!

My uncle thinks God is an alien and I say nothing to him, I just look at him like this…:ehh: I think he listened to far too much David Bowie in his youth and got sucked into the whole Spiders from Mars thing and there’s a Starman waiting in the sky rubbish. Either way he’s way of beam…beam!:rotfl: . Thing is when push comes to shove every soul knows that it is created, they just look for ways to find their Creator and after all their seeking, it is Him who seeks them and in the end Him who returns them to Himself.

Pray for her, tis all you can do and what you should do.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

My remark is about UFOs in general.

Sure, I think there are UFOs. I see them every day.

I look up once in a while and I see something up there which I don’t recognize, so, I’ve seen an unidentifed flying object. So, I don’t lose any sleep over it. I can’t quite understand why these things bother people so much.
