Ugh, too late for First Fridays, but not First Saturdays

I went to First Friday yesterday…
I went to First Friday, and I intended to go to my usual First Saturday mass today as well, but it was cancelled without warning and I had a wedding to go to (non-Catholic) so I couldn’t hang around for the later Mass 😦

Never mind, I’m sure Our Lady knows I tried :crying:

I was able to go yesterday, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to go today. I highly doubt that I will be able to make 9 consecutive first Fridays, though, due to my work schedule. The Saturday’s are much more likely. At least I’m going to give it a try.

Yes, I find the Friday’s much more difficult. Three tries and still no luck…

I actually did the first Saturday’s once before successfully. But I thought it was such an important issue I am doing it again. Not for my on salvation really, but rather just to honor Our Lady. Today is the feast day for “Our Lady of the Rosary” as well, and I don’t want to miss it. So, yes, I’m going.

Fridays are harder for me too. I am planning on trying it again soon.

Our parish began a tradition last night of Friday night Mass, preceded by the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. A wonderful experience and my wife and I hope to be able to go each Friday night. She and I followed that with Adoration in our perpetual Adoration chapel.

That is wonderful! I wish more church’s would do that.

I’ve got a question about the first Saturday devotions. I found this on a website that states:

“on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.”

Does this have to happen in any particular order? If I go to confession, say the rosary and the meditations after confession, and then stay for mass, does this count? I know I’m probably being a bit over-scrupulous in this, but I want to do it right!🙂

It doesn’t have to be in any order but if you are doing the First Saturdays, you could go to Confession the week before or the week after and it still counts.

What is important is praying for reparation to Our Blessed Mothers Immaculate Heart. This means:

Commmunion - Offered in reparation to Our Lady
Rosary - Offered in reparation to Our Lady
15 min. meditation - offered in reparation to Our Lady.

God Bless You,
Sorrows:thumbsup:

Just a reminder that this is the first Saturday in November!🙂 Get the rosaries out, go to confession, meditate on the mysteries, and get to an extra mass today!🙂

Went to confession about a month ago. What if one can’t think of anything to confess?

Ask your spouse what you should confess!🙂

I would do a thorough examination of conscience - I can always come up with something! Irritation at another person, failing to be charitable, being impatient with my children/spouse, etc.

Coming up with sins is definatly not a problem of mine! 🙂

Not even any venial sin? Read a good examination of conscience (try the one by Fr Robert Altier - do a google search for it)!

There was a reminder before, but then the power went out on this website, so we missed month.

Anyway, October 6 and 7 are the First Friday and First Saturday of October.

First Friday:

First Saturday:

Anybody going?
I was actually able to attend to morning mass on Friday. While the Eucherist was in progress, I did that spiritual communion prayer I picked up from this forum, plus a few more for the souls in Purgatory. Slept too late on Saturday (I get home from work after midnight):o

I checked that out. It does provide some things to think about. Thankyou.

You are the first person I’ve heard that has done Friday but missed Saturday. 🙂

Well, actually, I only have myself as a comparison, so forget that response…

Oh I’ve missed First Saturday a couplea times, due to work commitments. I had never heard of First Saturdays before joining these forums, but I grew up going to First Friday masses.

What if you go to Mass but not to Confession? Just asking because I did actually go to Mass this past Friday, but that was it. Obviously there is a great deal I do not understand here. Patience, please.
