The Christian owners of a bakery have won an appeal at the UK's highest court over a finding that they discriminated against a customer by refusing to make a cake decorated with the words "Support Gay Marriage".

This is great news.

I do think the store was wrong to initially accept the order but I also think it’s clear that it was the message and not the sexual orientation of the purchaser they objected to. It could have easily been order by a heterosexual ally.

My husband says that if he were a baker he would name his business something like St. paul’s Bakery and all orders would go through the Catholic Churches rectory. I told him there may be someone at the rectory that would accept any orders but I wonder if he’s on to something. There are many Catholic celebrations such as weddings, communions, baptisms , confirmations and if word of mouth spreads he’ll get called for birthdays etc… Wm
