hello all,
I’m in grad school right now and had to take an incomplete(2nd one this year). I really don’t like it here(its a different school from my undergrad ) but i like the academic side. I feel like an outcast even at church bible studies. idk what to do. there is soo much uncertainty in my life especially with grad school

I also hate when people say “well congrats on getting into grad school!” but its just two years of misery. I hate it and only doing it to get a decent job especially in this rough economy.uncertainty, uncertainty, …

i’m not suicidal but I really feel like death would be such as relief…i’m 23 and i really don’t feel life gets better

any advice?

  1. An online friend refers to her years in grad school as “the therapy years.” What you are experiencing is not abnormal. You’ve probably gone from being one of the smartest students in your undergraduate program to being an at best average student in your grad program–that’s hard on the self-esteem.
  2. Get yourself over to student counseling and/or student health and tell them how you feel.
  3. If you like the academic side, that’s actually really good.
  4. Get yourself something (or things) to look forward to.
  5. Try and get outside at least once a day if it’s even a little sunny and make sure you’re getting exercise.
Good luck!

👍

I agree with all of these, but especially #2 and #4. Oh, and in line with #5 - take care of yourself. Eat healthy, get enough sleep. Having a routine for self-care helps.

Death isn’t a relief, its forever, life is short, just gut it out. Life gets better, maybe. You can make a better life, definitely. Your stressed, its just part of being truly alive!

Maybe stretch your program out, its also known as ‘gradual school’ to some!

May God Bless you!
