I have an uncle in my family in Mexico who has fallen very ill again, this time it began as an infection in his wisdom tooth and it spread. He has a history of problems with abcesses, and also had septicemia back in 2013 and was gravely ill. We were very worried that he was going to die but he survived that crisis. Now he is infected again and is not in good shape. The doctor estimated that on a scale of 1-10, he is at a 5 for surviving.
I am worried for him because he is my uncle and I love him, and also because he is one of the few in my family who is a very intentional Catholic and has a done a lot of good in our family as far as inspiring a change in bad habits, internal family divisions and drawing us closer back to a meaningful spiritual life.
I ask for prayers because we feel quite helpless. My mom is from a large family of originally 13 children. Four have died over the years and all of them have been due to infections/health problems. I don’t know how my grandmother has been able to cope with the death of her children.
1 son died at the age of 14 (meningitis)
1 son died as a baby (tetanus)
1 son died at the age of 28 (Hepatitis B)
1 daughter at the age of 45, had cerebral palsy and died of pneumonia
