Under what circumstances may I baptize my granddaughter?

My granddaughter, age 3, is living in precarious circumstances. She has been given drugs and has been shuffled between various different homes. My priest won’t baptize her because her parents won’t agree. Her parents are living a very un-Christian lifestyle, separately, and the little one spends lots of time with people who are not trustworthy. I love her very much. I can bring some holy water home from my church and do it myself. Is this allowed?

No.

As difficult as circumstances may be, you may not baptize any child under the age of reason without his or her parents’ consent except when he or she is in immediate (not imagined, presumed, or feared) mortal danger of death (i.e., in extremis).
