I am looking to learn more about Catholicism. I grew up Catholic and received the sacraments, but I am completely ignorant of the faith. I been poking around hodgepodge on these furoms for a while. I would like suggestions to a program of study to learn the basics and then go from there. Thanks for any help.

Back at Church is a nice feeling. I want to be in the Church.

This is the Faith:
A Complete Explanation
of the Catholic Faith

I was in your same situation a few years ago. I highly recommend Catholicism for Dummies. It covers all the bases in an easy to read, lighthearted fashion all while remaining extremely orthodox.

Just don’t confuse it with An Idiots Guide to Catholicism, that one’s not very good.

Go to your priest or deacon and request to sign-up for RCIA (confirmation classes for adults). Although you’ve been confirmed, you may have either forgotten some of what you were taught or your teaching was sketchy. I know that prior to the 2nd Vatican (in the 70’s, I think), the history of the church, the sacracments and why they exist, and the beliefs of the Church were not thoroughly taught. Our Diocese in Toledo is very concerned that each participant has a true understanding and is in agreement with doctrine.

Check into the RCIA classes at your Parish office. You will learn a lot and will find that your faith will be greatly renewed. You’ll also be able to get answers to your questions.

Brian, you are being TOO kind when you say that “An Idiots Guide to Catholicism” is not very good.

It is HORRIBLE.

AVOID it at all costs.

REPEAT: do NOT buy "An Idiot’s Guide"

Thank you all for your help. I am amazed I made it to 46 and know so much about the world and so little of the faith of my fathers. I have been blown away by the magnitude of my ignorance. Well, into action, and again thank you for reaching out your hand when I asked for help. Dan
