66 "The Christian economy, therefore, since it is the new and definitive Covenant, will never pass away; and no new public revelation is to be expected before the glorious manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ."28 Yet even if Revelation is already complete, it has not been made completely explicit; it remains for Christian faith gradually to grasp its full significance over the course of the centuries.

Yes, possible but not expected. I bolded the operative phrases. The Church never says certain things. Like never saying any specific person is in Hell. The Church cannot “close revelation” because the option belongs to God. I am personally not expecting anything new. But further explication I do expect.

Good question.

In order to understand CCC 66, one must read CCC 65. In order to understand the small print in CCC 65, one needs to study the “Practical Directions for Using this Catechism”,
CCC 18 - 22. If one’s eyes are not strained, then one should read CCC 67.

The key is the phrase “Christ’s definitive Revelation.”

There will be no more Revelation. It is the Tracition of the Church that Revelation ended with the death of the last Apostle. Pius X condemned the propsition that Revelation had not ended with the death of the last Apostle. This is not formally Defined but must be held as true by Catholics as part of Sacred Doctrine. Of course the Church continually deepens her understanding of the Truths of Revelation.

The reality is stated in CCC 67.

In addition, note that for some, not all, people recent “revelations” --in the broadest *secular *sense of the word – can include those which can improve Church doctrines so that the Catholic Church can change and adapt to certain modern issues. This is why it is so important that Church leaders protect the Catholic “deposit of faith” mentioned in CCC 67, and referred to in CCC 84-- 95. Divine Revelation trumps.

Hypothetically, let’s say a visionary reports that Padre Pio appeared to him and said a city in the US would be destroyed by earthquake on Easter Sunday. And it happens. There’s really nothing new in this. A new revelation would be something added to the Deposit of Faith, a new Truth, a new Way things work. Like, some people can choose to be reincarnated would be new revelation.
