Given that the office of presidency under I believe Eisenhower (shortly after WWII) issued a statement that the United States would be involved in spiritual research, should we think that these activities could lead to a national inquisition?

I have no idea what you are talking about. Perhaps you can give us some factual information?
should we think that these activities could lead to a national inquisition?
Can you explain what you mean by national inquisition and who it is you envision running it and who would be subject to it?

Frankly this question is out in left field. By itself. With no glove.

What sort of spiritual research?
\Was any ever done? To what end?

We’re headed for the Tribulation. Christians will be persecuted. It’s already happening in many places.
An American Department of Ideological Purity is quite plausible. I doubt that it would involve anything Eisenhower said or did.

To my knowledge, Ike didn’t say exactly what constitutes spiritual research when he made his statement.

Um, this is a discussion thread. What is the harm on a person asking for some background to the topic? Discussion threads should be open for all to participate, not just people the OP okays to be on the thread.

You are off-topic. If someone wants to disprove that the President did not make the statement, then let them do so.
You are the one who brought up his not-very-well-known comment. Don’t attempt to put on other people the burden of trawling through everything he is recorded as saying to find this one remark.

Context is important, so it would help the discussion to know where and when it was said.

It is extremely on topic, as it’s the only sentence you originally posted.

You are incorrect, Sparky. If you want to assert that some obscure statement was made by the “office of presidency” under a president whose identity you’re not even sure of (“I believe Eisenhower”), “shortly after WWII” (Eisenhower didn’t even become president until 1953, the war having ended in 1945), then it’s up to you to document and source such a statement - not for others to try to disprove it.

If I am not mistaken, the OP is referring to Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Synopsis: Archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones is hired by the U.S. government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis.

Please, the community and the OP desires only to read posts which answer the topic.
There can’t be any posts which answer the topic when no one here has ever heard of the alleged statement and you refuse to link to it. Why don’t you just go ahead and provide the source so people can read it and then react to it?

It’s ok @Cruciferi.

There are people ready to gallop in and save you. The white charger is ready, and the quiver of armoury.

In the meantime
