Hi I am a Junior In high school and with only a year left I am wanting to further my education at a College. I have looked at several Catholic schools. Most being Holy Cross College in Southbend Indiana. I really liked it, but the cost compared to the University of Mary isn’t even close. Holy Cross has a basic tuition now of 26,000 not including other amendities while Mary has a basic tuition of around 12 or 13000. So between these Catholicschools which is better value? Is there anything I should know? Also I am involved in multitudes of activities. Will this help pay for cost? Any advice would brand is appreciated.
My major willbe Theology if I go to a Catholic school. Which is the plan unless a forrestry school were to give me a lot of money. Thanks and God Bless;)0:shrug:

Tuition costs are not a good indicator of whether or not you will get a better education at one school or the other.

I have one son in a state college (cheap education) and one in a private college (very expensive). Their colleges were chosen as a good fit for them and not based on money. My average student is happy at his state college which has thousands of kids. Lots of things to do and see and not a lot of pressure. But as a theater major he has more opportunities to get involved in plays at the large college.

My over achiever loves his little college of under 2000. In High School he was the second highest in his class, an eagle scout, played tennis, and was in the band. He was active in the church and participated in a lot of community service projects. Colleges were throwing money at him. He chose this small private college and wouldn’t look at any other. I challenged him to get the money to go. He did and he is loving it. But he opted to double major. He wants to be a philosophy teacher at the college level. Not much in scholarships for that! so he is also majoring in Environmental Science. Lots of scholarships for that.

Personally I’d shoot for the cheaper school. Anyone can get a good education if they just apply themselves.

The only advantage I see in going to a small private college is the personal attention you get from the teachers and staff.
