I understand, it isn’t artificial birth control in any way, shape or form. You are absolutely correct on that and I know you are passionate about this, it shows and thats great!!! Keep telling em!👍
Thanks!

I don’t understand how having another child at the age of 38 could be harmful, to either the mother or the first child. Is there further information we need (medical, complications during the first pregnancy and delivery, etc.)?

My mother had me at the age of 40, my younger sister when she was 41. And my BIL’s wife is 38 and expecting their 12th child. I know doctors “have” to notify their patients that getting pregnant after the age of 35 automatically makes you “high risk”–that’s what they told my BIL’s wife two children ago–but I don’t think it should scare you.

Congratulations on your first little blessing and may God bless you more abundantly!
Yes there is. My wife had a tubular pregancy after the birth of her daughter. She only has one tube. Please excuse my terminalogy I’m not familar with the correct med. terms. I think that this along with the info. she has recieved throught the pregancy of our son has caused her to feel this way. I’m not scared of having more children but I do worry that I won’t be able to enjoy thier childhood as best as I can. For my sake and for the childs. I’m into sports big time. I love to play sports not only watch. My step daughter is very athletic. Who by the way I’ve been helping raise since she was 5yrs of age. Her dad for the most part has chose not to come around and now is serving time for who knows what. But I don’t want to sound like I despise him. Cause I don’t. The times that he did come around I always spoke to him and treated him like I would anybody. But back to my original concern. I want to be able to share the same time of play and fun with my son and I am alittle concerned about that. I quess the most logical way to solve this problem would be to take care of myself so that I can enjoy those times with my children.

1st, I second the recommendation that you find an NFP instructor.

2nd, does your wife have any health problems (i.e., heart condition, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.), that would make another pregnancy dangerous? Because just being 38 is not a problem. I’m 37 and pregnant w/ my 5th child, and we may have one or two more. My SIL has 3 other SIL’s who had children in their 40’s, all healthy and “normal”. If your wife is healthy there’s nothing unhealthy about having more children at her age. Since God has just blessed you w/ a child, He may want to bless you some more! Don’t shut the door on Him!

In Christ,

Ellen
My wife has had a tubular pregancy so she has only one tube and that was a major concern during the first phase of her pregancy. It’s funny that you said not to shut the door on him. The reason I say that is because I have a friend whose Baptist and we debate all the time about our beliefs as Catholics and Baptist. Now we never disrespect one another we just debate our beliefs. I ask him what thier beliefs or teachings where regarding contraception. And he went on explianing what they’re taught and quoting scripture. Often explaining himself and the way he interpeted the text of that verse. I, on the other hand could not debate that without futher researching that particular scripture reading. But I did reply by saying I feel as a someone who trys to live by what God has taught us and to always serve him, I feel like we, my wife and I, have completely shut him out and basically said to God. We have made the choice not have anymore children and turned away from his will. I went on to tell him that’s why feel terrible. He’s always quick to respond but I think this made him re-evaluate his postion on contraception because he made no response accept to agree with what I said. He believes contraception is ok. At least for now he does.
