I do have to chuckle just a bit over the term “virtual presence”, but I guess it’s the best we have at this point. We should pray that the virtual (fill in the blank) will get real again, soon.
 
Very interesting. I haven’t (yet) been able to grasp the whole relic thing but do find an fascination with them in a historical sense. Thanks for the link. 🙂
 
Well, I’ve touched my own rosary to the reliquary of every Padre Pio relic that’s gone on tour in US or been put out for veneration at his shrine in PA, also to his replica tomb at his shrine that looks like his main tomb in Italy and they have a first class relic in it (I was hopeful that counted as making the rosary a third class relic since there’s no reason why he can’t have two tombs), also I’ve prayed in front of a lot more Padre Pio relics that the Carmelite monastery loans out to one of the local churches for a big annual Padre Pio Festival. Padre Pio has a huge fan club around here, and his gatherings usually also feature beer, wine, pizza, Italian sausages, and crooners doing Sinatra and Tony Bennett imitations. As well as local vendors selling Tshirts, hats, and coffee mugs with Padre Pio on them. All that is after the Masses, rosaries, confessions, Adoration, processions, and veneration of his relics of course. I’m not making this up.

But anyway my point is I’ve spent time around probably a dozen real Padre Pio relics at this point. Since we likely won’t be having any Padre Pio Festivals this year, I’m happy to look at the virtual ones.
