Today my daughter has decided that it would be better if she gave up her dog.

My downstairs neighbor stopped me to talk about what had happened the other morning when my daughter walked her dog, but the dog wouldn’t let her pass to go to her apartment. She mentioned the word aggressive several times. He is a barker and will get up on his hind legs when he wants to see someone, so I can see where that can be taken as aggressive. She did she want to talk to me before she takes the complaint to to the office. Because she talked to me and I told her I would see about a muzzle, she wasn’t going to the office.

I explained to my daughter my neighbor’s concerns and said that if she did go to the office, I would have no choice but to get rid of the dog and would only have 24 hours to do so, and not much choice in where he would go. So, with that information, she decided that he needs to go.

My girlfriend has a friend at work that knows lots of rescues and will talk to her on Monday about him.

I did tell her that she can have another puppy, but this time it will be raised correctly. All my dogs have been friendly and sociable dogs because as pups I get them out and around people and other dogs. This pup will be doing the same thing.

Glory be!

Be careful about what breed you get. I’m sure you’re aware, but just mentioning that some are more family friendly than others. Golden retrievers, labs and so on.

It’s probably all for the best.

I would not rush into getting a replacement dog. Let your daughter settle into your home for a while longer, and into school and its activities. Once she has some routine in her life, maybe consider a smallish lap dog or even a cat.

Thanks for the update. I hope your daughter is settling in otherwise.
