greetings everybody. im a 20 year old who had her first confession just a while ago. and now, im scared to commit wrong things as i await for my first communion about two weeks from now. we are in a middle eastern country where confession is not freely available. just now, im not sure whether i committed gluttony because i was very hungry. and ever since then, dat was always my problem. im always quite unsure whether i committed a sin or not. and now, im thinking to myself, if i can struggle to be as clean in thoughs, words, and deeds as possible before i will accept my first communion.

i deeply need somebody’s wise advise today. thank you very much and God bless.

Mishi, You can always make a good Act of Contrition before receiving the Eucharist with the firm intention to go to Confession at the first opportunity you get. Trust in the loving forgiveness of God and don’t beat yourself up, just do the best you can and keep a good prayer life.

Have a great Lent!👍

What He said…👍

Do your best…Make a good act of contrition (at least daily)…Go to confession when you are able…and Trust in God. You will be fine.

Peace
James

With the grace of God, prayer, and your efforts to avoid sin you be able to maintain yourself in a state of grace. God bless you on your First Holy Communion.

Thank you very much for your advices. As of yesterday, I am always keeping the act of contrition beside me. I admit, there are still daily struggles with sin and temptations because of what we see on tv and the like. And then again, my confusion always sets in whether I committed a sin or not. But I’m doing my best to pray hard everyday.

Thank you very much for your advices. I’m really really really very thankful for them and I’m really thankful for this site. May God bless us all and heal our hearts.

Dear one,
In regards tot ehbolded section. Yes continue to pray - pray constantly and in particularly in praise and thanksgiving to God.

In regards to the confusion of sinning. This is a common problem even among us long time Cathlics. But it need not be.
The problem stems from looking at sin as a violation of a rule…Like committing a crime.
But this is not the case. Sin is giving offense to the one you Love above all else. Consider this. If you truly love someone you do not wish to give offense. Why? Because you love them and would not hurt or offend them for all the world.
Likewise if someone we love hurts or offends us, we stand ready to forgive at teh instant that person shows repentance.

So - Cultivate your Love of God and Love your neighbor as yourself for that Love of God. consider all things in relation to the Law of Love (Mt 22:36-40) and where you feel that you have not demonstrated that Love, or offended that Love in some way, ask forgiveness just as you would of a dear friend.

This can be a difficult thing to internalize so don’t feel bad if it takes some time. But once you do you find yourself so much more relaxed and free and at peace.

Peace
James
