I don’t know how many of you will think this is dorky…but my new baby kitten is very sick, and I’m worried.
I found him last week in my back yard, which was very strange because I have seven acres of land and no neighbors, besides horses and cows. He is about eight weeks old, black and white spots (kinda like a cow, very unusual) my four year old named him Tuck.
He was a very skinny hungry kitty when I found him, and we brought him into the house to quarentine him for a while, he was supposed to become an outdoor cat along with my two others Elizabeth and Rosanna. I grew VERY attatched to him VERY quickly. He seemed to appreciate our saving him, and became very affectionate …following me around, climbing into my lap every time I sat. I decided that I wanted him indoors with me…
When I was a girl, I had a cat for fifteen years, who was at times my only friend…after he died I didn’t want the pain of really loving another animal again, and besides, I started a family and I had babies to raise, and so I didn’t have the time
Well…I was surprised at how attached I grew. Then Yesterday, I woke up and Tuck wasn’t acting well. I looked under his chin and there was a grape sized lump…right under his throat, and he had a fever, and he wasn’t moving.
I took him to the vet, and the vet said it is some sort of infection, and he gave him a shot of antibiotics and some for me to take home, and he told me that this should do the trick, but if not, come back tomorrow and he’d look further into it.
Well…I woke up this morning and the fever is back and the swelling has increased it’s in his jaws now, and he still isn’t moving. we’re going back to the vet this afternoon.
I don’t understand why this is affecting me, I am crying over a cat that I’ve only known for a week, but I think it’s because I am so lonely out here in Baptist land, and my husband travels through the week…I was just really looking forward to this cat’s company, just like when I was the incredibly lonely little girl who took her cat’s picture to school…because I loved him that much.
I wish if you read this and you feel moved to that you will say a little prayer for Teresa’s cat Tuck in Kentucky…I just cannot believe this is affecting me sooo much.
Thank you
