A Frenchwoman who happens to be a Facebook friend of mine posted the following statement on her Facebook timeline:
I hate this world. People are bad. Stop saying there is a God because if there is one, he doesn’t do his job!!! My heart is in Paris this night.
What should I say to her? 😦

That all the world is grieving with her and with Paris right now.

This is a time to offer whatever comfort you can, not to tell her she is wrong.

She is venting her grief. Give comfort where you can. And pray for all the world as well as for her. Disregard her distrust for God for now and just let her grieve in her own way. Peace and prayers for all the world and those that suffer.

Just replying to agree with suscipe and mary. They are absolutely right. Right now your best evangelizing is showing an example of love and support. Words, debate and discussion are better left for after time and healing. Right now, just be a loving friend and that example will speak louder than any argument.

She’s angry, hurt, scared, and probably in a bit of shock. Just offer your comfort and support to her. And keep her in your prayers.

Yes, this. If you feel the need to address the comment about there being no God, please do it in person and not on facebook.

Try to imagine what the real root cause is for your friend saying that. If he/she is hurt about what happened in Paris then rightly so. If he/she is saying there is no God because God would not have allowed that if He existed well… your friend may have reasons for the remarks which even he/she is unaware of…

A brief but accurate definition of God is:

"GOD IS ALL GOOD THINGS PERFECTED"

Good and goodness ONLY exist because of God. Therefore GOD cannot be the direct AND intentional cause of evil! Ever!

God can and DOES PERMIT evil [man’s freewill choices] BUT never causes them or approves of them:thumbsup:

There is very much more I could share but this is the brief and ought to be logical approach.

God Bless you,

PRAY for your friend’s understanding:signofcross:
