Folks are posting kids videos that include messages encouraging suicide and self harm.

I get it - we get busy as moms and dads and it’s nice to be able to drop a screen in front of the kiddos and get some tasks done for ourselves. But we now have to limit it to content we control since vile people are using that platform to damage your kids.

When you need a minute to get a few things done around the house, stick with DVDs, Blu Ray, or set programming on Netflix or Hulu.

No more Youtube Surfing for your young ones, even on Youtube Kids.

“While sitting with her child and nursing his nosebleed, the mom was shocked when the “Splatoon” cartoon he was watching was interrupted. For eight seconds, the doctored video proceeded to show the image of an adult man who walked on screen and addressed “kids,” then graphically described ways they could slit their wrists. The man then walked away and the cartoon resumed.”

Frankly, never should have let kids surf Youtube unsupervised.

Destroy all technology tbh.

Parents will not allow their kids to ride a bike to the corner store unsupervised, to stay home unsupervised, heck to play in the yard anymore. I cannot fathom they would let their kids surf the WWW unsupervised!

Disgusting. What sort of mindless, good-for-nothing imbecile actually does stuff like this?

Warnings about YouTube’s children’s content have been out for at least a couple of years now. This one about suicide is new to me though.

There are a ton more reasons than this not to let your kids surf Youtube unsupervised. There is an unbelievably large amount of smut on that site, along with all kinds of crazy conspiracy theories, anti-Catholic nonsense, anti-God nonsense, atheistic nonsense, irrational babbling, and scary imagery.

Anymore???

Please.

A child shouldn’t ever be on line without parental supervision.

As FYI - this was found on the YouTube Kids app, not the main website. The app is supposed to be filtered to just kid friendly stuff.

However, evil like this sometimes sneaks in. The mother who found it said the video had been posted for 6 months before she found it and reported it to YouTube (who took it down right away).

Ashton Kutcher, as much as I generally don’t like news related to him, seems to have been taking quite a stand against it.

Apparently he’s been funding private investigations to find these people, break their anonymity and force them to answer for what they’ve done, particularly when he can get Google to cooperate.

For a very long time very many things on YouTube have been unsuitable for children. “Elsagate” comes to mind. I have seen some crazy stuff…

I think we should have laws that ban certain content that is easily accessible to children.

The problem is that those types of laws quickly became an avenue for abuse.
