I have a friend who has an unborn baby with serious medical problems and she is being pushed by the doctors towards abortion.
I don’t know if her life is in danger or if there are any other complicating circumstances, but I think there is only a few days at best, before a decision is made. First, I need your prayers for a miracle. Secondly, does anyone know of Catholic or Pro Life doctors who can help people in this situation? I am in the Chicago area and I’ve known 2 other people in this situation and I have nobody to refer them to so that they can get a second opinion from a doctor who is pro life or who’s first reaction to troubled pregnancies isn’t abortion. Please help me if you can. Thank you.

I will pray for your friend and her baby. Please tell her 2 things- 1-Drs can, and HAVE been wrong about the seriousness of medical conditions in the womb, and 2- It will still be much better for her psycologicaly and physically to carry the baby to term (abortion will greatly increase risks of prematurity and miscarriage in future children, and has been know to cause sterility! Also much higher % of depression, suicide, bad relationships and low self-esteem. Finally, depending on her age, family history and if this her 1st baby, could increase her chance of breast cancer by 600%!!!)

God bless you!

Try Loyola Medical Center. They have a notable high risk pregnancy unit and, presumably, would be pro-life.

Also, you might want to contact the Women’s Center and see what kind of direction they can offer:

www.womens-center.org

Pro-Life Action League (mentioned above) also ought to be able to point you in the right direction.

This is absolutely correct information. Also, friends of ours had a baby they knew would not live long outside of the womb. They had an amazing pro-life doctor who supported them throughout the entire pregnancy, and our pastor was invited into the delivery room (c-section) to baptise the baby immediately upon his birth. They all stayed together (they had other children) and everyone got to hold him and have a picture taken with him, and be with him when he drew his last breath. The parents say that they would not have traded those precious moments for anything else in the world. Should she have an abortion, she will not be allowed to hold the baby, and those empty arms will a lot worse than if she lets God decide the course.

I have experienced the shock of loved ones all in a panic because their doctor told them something was wrong with the baby. This has happened countless times but only once was there indeed an abnormality and it wasn’t as severe as predicted. When we look back on all the tears, the emotional toil and gut wrenching weeks and months anticipating the worse one has to wonder why there are no lawsuits against doctors who put so many young mothers and their families through all of that for nothing. Time and time again these ‘problematic’ children were born healthy and beautiful. We don’t know if the test results were false or God answered our prayers and miraculously healed them. In the end, whatever happens it is always wiser to put one’s trust in God and to tell the doctors no thanks I want my baby regardless.

**We had a doctor in town who once gave such a recommendation to terminate a pregnancy to my god daughter and it was the doctor who learned about the limits of medicine and the unlimited power of God. She would be the one who later became a Christian and stopped recommending abortions in her practice. I like to think that perhaps it was because my god daughter told that her recommendation was impossible because she was Catholic and killing her baby would be wrong. **

**Our first reaction was to get down on our knees before Our Blessed Mother and pray for her intercession and today five years later that little boy was swimming with his cousins and grandmother in the backyard pool. Today’s beautiful, joyful times would never have been if my niece had allowed fear to dominate her. **

Man Gets Life Under Fetal Protection Law
Monday, June 6, 2005 9:07 PM EDT
The Associated Press

A 19-year-old accused of causing his teenage girlfriend to miscarry two fetuses by stepping on her stomach was convicted Monday of two counts of murder.

Gerardo Flores received an automatic life sentence because prosecutors did not seek the death penalty, which was available under the state’s 2003 fetus protection law.

Erica Basoria, 17, acknowledged asking Flores to help end her pregnancy; she could not be prosecuted because of her legal right to abortion.

The defense contended that Basoria punched herself while Flores was stepping on her, making it impossible to tell who caused the miscarriage.

Basoria told authorities that, after about four months of pregnancy, she regretted not getting an abortion and started jogging and hitting herself to induce a miscarriage. When her efforts failed, she said she asked her boyfriend to help.

Flores did not testify, but earlier told police that he stepped on Basoria’s stomach several times during the week before she miscarried.

Prosecutor Art Bauereiss said most of Basoria’s family was pleased with the jury’s decision. But Basoria, who sobbed as she left the Angelina County Courthouse, had stood by Flores.

“It’s just tragedy all around,” said Flores’ attorney, Ryan Deaton.

Texas law defines an embryo or fetus as an “individual” and allows criminal prosecution or civil action for a preventable injury or death of a fetus. The law exempts health care providers who perform a legal medical procedure, such as an abortion.

I thought you may find this interesting that Texas does consider the embryo or fetus a human life. Strange how the justice system on this issue is not so just. Whats good for the goose is not good for the gander.

This irritates and angers me beyond belief:mad:  So the boyfriend is under arrest for murder, because he did not have a medical license to kill:tsktsk: The woman apparently because of her gender is born with a license to kill:mad:  It is murder for all involved but if you are the pregnant woman or the doctor you have the right to murder!:banghead: I am starting a thread with your article and your poster name ,this is the kind of thing that needs to be discussed all by itself.😦

You might also want to e-mail Priests for Life and see if they know anyone in the Chicago area Priests_for_Life@xmr3.com

Tell her also to look up these people - Jesus People USA Evangelical Covenant Church

These people are a long shot (the numbers are to arrange visits) - They’re a 500 member Christian Community on Chicago’s North Side. I would call them and see if they know a Pro-Life OB-GYN or have one in the Community they can refer you to. Ask to talk to Johnny Herrin and Glenn and Wendi Kaiser who are on the Pastoral team if all else fails.

This really is something your parish should be helping you with, but we’ll have to embarrass them by having “Grand Central JEPUSA” do the job (That’s what they used to be called because they were so busy!)

I hope this helps. I’m absolutely shocked that I remembered these people from over 25 years ago, and that they’re still there. Most of these communities died between 1985-90 if they didn’t find some denominational structure to submit themselves to.

It’s really too bad these guys never became Catholic.

Timmyo, may the Lord heal your friend and her child and keep them both from “Suffering at the hands of Doctors”.

Blessed are they who act to save God’s Little Ones. Michael

That’s all I can do. Sorry if it’s not enough.

Please let us know how your friend does, and tell her that she doesn’t have to resist the Abortionist alone.

divine apostle:
i vote for that person not too have an abortion!
Divine Apostel:

That’s what we’re trying to help her with.

She has a Doctor who’s telling her she has to do it, and she doesn’t have any idea where she’s going to go.

We’re trying to see if we can give her places to go to for help, and a second opinion.

At the same time, I would like to see something like this being able to be handled at a person’s parish. One of the priests at St, Mary’s is a past President of the American Association of Physicians Assistants.

He’s the FIRST person I go to with medical questions, along with a lot of people in the parish. I can’t see why individual parishes can’t have Deacon’s or priests on staff who have that type of expertise.

You challenge is to find her a Pro-Life Ob-Gyn in the Chicago area. Some of us have listed resources in the hopes that one of them will be able to do it.

Your assignment is to actually do it and post the doctor’s name, address, phone number and credentials.

If you can’t, that’s fine, but you have to try.

Blessed are they who help to save God’s Little Ones. Michael
