Mini gerbil, wrap your head around this. Think of Mary as the eastern gate that Jesus passed through. She is the mother of the Church and our mother by commandment. You have to go to Church to be a member of the body of Christ. On earth as in heaven. You go to Mary, she will bring you to her son. She is an advocate to the Son for us as Jesus is the advocate to the Father. Think about it for a while. Tim
I suppose so but it says you MUST. I suppose it could be true.🤷

im tired of these things. they visions say you have to believe in these thing such as Fatima and stuff. Didnt Jesus show us the way to everlating life 2000 years ago. didnt he tell us all the commandments/ explain them? Now it is also true what they say in these visions in regard to ( this is an example ) " read the bible to your children" commandment. Thats obvious. If i have babys im gona read the bible to them. but any way. Wouldnt we not need these necessarily? What ever the church apporves is what i approve though. 👍

Dear Byer, there is absolutely nothing controversial about the messages of Our Lady of America and St. Joseph never appeared saying he was conceived immaculate. Where do you get your information?? If it were true I would never ever promote her. I am 100% true to the Vatican and Holy Father and I never follow or promote anything unapproved. If I ever found out there was anything against the teachings of the Catholic Church I would be the first to say so. I ask readers to go to the web site and read the approvals themselves and the messages. Archbishop Burke is a very holy Bishop and is promoting these apparitions and many other holy priests and bishops. I know it is a confusing time with so many false and/or unapproved apparitions that we have to show caution so as not to be led astray. Please go to the web site yourself and you will see there is no contraversal messages and also click on “Learn more” and “approval” to read the approvals. I don’t know if you are doing a search maybe to get your information, then you could be lead astray. There is a lot of information on the internet, some true and some not true. Why don’t you contact Bishop Burke’s office and ask him your questions and get your information from Bishops true to the Catholic Church. If we follow authentic, true to the Vatican Bishops, Priests and the Holy Father we will not be led astray and will not lead others astray. Again, read the messages yourself, there is absolutely nothing controversal, only asking for purity and to pray the Rosary. Jennifer
Hey Jennifer …you don’t have to jump all over me. If you had read my second post it clearly shows that I went to the site and found the exact wording about being cleansed After Conception…so I did correct myself.
I also noted there in the messages that in union with Mary he called himself a “co-redemptor” of the human race.

Now I have the greatest respect for Bishop Burke and if he says it’s ok - that’s great.

I was just expressing my opinion, since this is just a personal, private revelation, that I thought it strange for humble St Joseph to make such statements, statements that he has never before in history been recorded as making about himself.

I also mentioned I am not a theologian and leave all that sort of thing up to the experts. But I will say I have enough devotions already and don’t think I’ll be promoting this one.

God bless.

By my explaining a little about Mary’s relationship with us to minigerbil, I was not promoting this apparation. I remain without opinion on it at this time. Tim

Top, I can understand why many good Catholics can be uncertain about this apparition. There have been apparitions like those in Bayside, NY that have been proven untrue and then there is Medujori (spelling?) that the local Bishop said not to attribute anything suppernatural to it, but now they are reinvestigating it again. Even Fatima, at first the priest gave the poor children a hard time.
The difference with this apparation (Our Lady of America) is that it has been approved by the local bishop and many bishops after that and no bishops have shown disapproval. It is not the job of the Vatican or Pope to approve or disapprove an apparation. It is the job of the local bishop. Now, a local priest or bishop can show disapproval in the beginning like Fatima, but in the end it was approved after investigations. Medujori, we are still waiting the final decision of the church. Once an apparation is approved by the local bishop, then that is it. It is approved, Like Our Lady of America.
The readers can go to EWTN question and answers or any other Catholic Q & A and they will tell you that that is the process of approving an apparation. You can ask them, “once a local bishop approves an apparation does that mean it is true and has the approval of the church or do we need to wait for Vatican or Pope approval”. They will respond as I told you above, that it is the job of the local Bishop to approve or disapprove an apparation. Therefore when a bishop approves it we should trust in the churches decision. Church also tells us that one does not HAVE to follow private revelation, we have the Bible and the Tradition of the Catholic Church and that is enough to get us to Heaven. But, to me, if Our Lady comes to our country, for us Americans, I would do all I could to first find out if it is true and if it is, I would want to promote her and listen to her message and thank her for coming to us. It is a special gift to us and she has a message just for us!!! She is our Mother! Mother of America!
Again, if you are unsure I would ask different Catholic experts. Our Lady of America visited EWTN, the Cathedral in Newark, NJ, St. Patrich’s Cathedral in NY, The Cathedral in Wyoming, etc Go to the web site (www.ourladyofamerica.com) and click on latest news and Gallery. In order for her to visit a Cathedral the bishop has to approve it.

I can only read the first page of messages, which is from the Lord. The link to go to the next page isn’t working. But what you describe sounds like Baptism, doesn’t it? Tim
Well, from how I understand “immediately following conception” I take it to mean right after he was conceived but still in the womb. Not after he was born.

I can certainly understand the hesitation of Catholics to give any private revelations any merit with so many false seers that have cropped up. I myself am always hesitant, as I’ve been given information from parishioners of different shrines that were not approved and one being condemned.😦

This one really caught my attention this past summer, as it had been approved by the local Bishop. And since then, there have been numerous Bishops that have approved and are even promoting the devotion. Knowing a little bit about the process of approval by the Church, and how long it takes them to investigate and how thorough they are, (and rightfully so, as they are trying to protect the faithful from being led astray by half truths and half lies, so often done in the past) IMO it is at the very least noteworthy, and more like credible. Since then, there has been more attention given OLA, and to date there is nothing negative coming from any Bishops. All are positive.

Soooo…I am keeping this intention in my rosary, telling people when the opportunity arises in conversation, and letting The Blessed Mother handle the rest. I feel that if the Bishops are promoting this, I can and should as well. Don’t misunderstand, I am not by any means hyper vigilant and talking about this to anyone who will listen. I am taking the attitude of Sr. Joseph Therese (Sr. Mildred’s benefactor) that this cause be best served by prayer and when the opportunity arises to make people aware. Let the Holy Spirit take it from there.👍

Our Lady of America, pray for us.

Very well said. I hope to visit there soon.

Here’s a valiant effort to wade through the mess:

True Apparitions Neglected and Corrupted

Let’s pray that the Church (that includes us) gains greater clarity regarding our response to Our Lord’s will and continuing guidance.

I read through many of the messages. In these apparitions (approved as well as not approved) there is a common theme of a warning and/ or a punishment/chastisment. This punishment (or warning) when examining the words of our Lord or of our Blessed Mother is worded in a way that it is imminent, or at least in the not too distant future. However, we have not experienced either a warning or a punishment.

Now I am not hoping for a world wide punishment of course, but the fact that it is always on the threshold of happening in these apparitions and virtual all of these apparitions are from generations gone by, doesn’t this, in and of itself, cast very serious doubt of thier validity?

This seems obvious to me, yet is not discussed in the context of these forums (such as this one). Why, I wonder?

This is troubling to me so I’m going to give it a selfish little bump.

**As for “imminent” Heaven does not measure time by our conception of it.

Also, “chastisements and warnings” are tentative…they can be stalled by prayer and behavior changes.

When Our Dear Lord foretold that the Temple in Jerusalem will be torn down and “…not one stone upon another …” that foretelling did occur but about 40 years later. When Heaven speaks it wishes for all of us to move closer to God WITHOUT coercion. Our behaviors must be changed by love of God rather than fear of things to come.**

Now I am not hoping for a world wide punishment of course, but the fact that it is always on the threshold of happening in these apparitions and virtual all of these apparitions are from generations gone by, doesn’t this, in and of itself, cast very serious doubt of thier validity?

Time is of no consequence in relation to eternity. The Apocalypse was written 2,000 years ago and there are STILL events yet to come.

This seems obvious to me, yet is not discussed in the context of these forums (such as this one). Why, I wonder?

more superstition to believe in :hypno:
As Catholics, we are not required to believe in any approved apparition. However, to call them “superstitious” is not charitable. It also may lead a person to wonder what religion the author of such words follows.

Uglygal,

If you are struggling with the basics, as you are, you may want to avoid threads like these right now. It can be confusing. Keep searching, though. 😉

This is a new thing, and, honestly I fought a little bit after I heard about it. After all, isn’t Fatima enough? Well, I think they blew it then, as most of her prophesies came through. Maybe it is too late for that apparition. Too few listened.

The message of this apparition was presented to me in the context of comparing it to the Sacred Heart devotion that Our Lord Himself gave to St. Mary Alacocque. The King of France brushed it aside and did not do what was asked of him, and neither did his son. (Repent, pay homage to the Lord, and publicly acknowledge Jesus and ask reparation for the faithlessness of his country.) We all know what happened to France and the the abuse and errors that came from the Revolution, and the devastation of all of Europe.

In the apparitions that followed, along with the warnings; everything that was warned about came through. Case in point:
Our Lady of LaSalette and the potato famine.

We are being given the same opportunity to turn from our self-centered ways and make reparations for these horrible abuses and errors, or suffer the natural and spiritual consequences and get what we deserve.

I, for one, plan to beg for mercy.

Also, it was suggested that if ten righteous people could have been found in Sodom and Gomorrah, all 300,000 would have been spared. If only a few hundred of us beg pardon for everyone, our prayers may go far in sparing millions.

Those who pooh-pooh devotion to the BVM and seem so satisfied with themselves for it, I believe, are worse off than unbelievers.

My wife had just heard about Our Lady of America and I thought I would check it out. I still haven’t decided yet one way or another. Parts of it seem great other parts don’t seem so great. I wonder why ask for a specific need such as having a statue placed in the Basilica in DC? It seems more proper for inner conversion of oneself, (which is also stressed and more welcomed by me).

I’ll have to keep looking into this one. :hmmm:
