For those that want abortion to be availble unrestricted to women and want to use education and contraceptives to reduce the numbers of abortions. PLEASE. . Answer the following:

Q; Is there anything wrong with abortion?

If no, Why do you want to reduce the numbers of abortions? Why spend the money to educate people and provide them with contraceptives if they can just use abortion as birth control?

or

If yes, then why should abortion be unrestricted? - If your answer is, “because it personally affects a womans body” - Should prostitution be unrestricted because it personally affects a womans body?

Should we use the same logic to reduce murders? For example, making murders unsrestricted, but using education to teach people to resolve issues peacefully?

Should we use the same logic for drunk driving? Making all drunk driving legal, but educate people on the risks and what the safe way to drink is?

Why should someone that murders his pregnant wife be charged with the murder of the unborn child, but a doctor can perform an abortion without consequence?

Good questions. Having been pro-choice earlier in my life, however, I believe the answers might be:
  1. It’s better for a woman not to have too many abortions, as any surgical procedure can undermine her health, so educating her in how to avoid unwanted pregnancy would be best.
  2. Both abortion and prostitution should be legal provided no coercion is being used on the woman involved in either activity.
Please note I am now pro-life! However, that doesn’t mean the “other side” doesn’t have some good arguments in their favor - if you don’t believe human life begins at conception (or that the human body is sacred).

I am all in favour of making abortion completely illegal (and it boggles my mind that it isn’t, every time I think about it) but education is the way that we are going to get there.

If it is just made illegal with no explanation being given, people will just start breaking the law and we’ll be right back where we started from.

But when people actually “get” that the unborn child is a human being just like themselves - “another me” to whom you cannot do the thing that you would not have done to yourself - then we will be able to make it illegal, and people will understand that even if they have become pregnant by accident, they still aren’t allowed to kill their babies, because their babies are people, too.

In addition, legalizing abortion and promoting education to reduce the numbers may seem appealing to some, but:

Should we use the same logic to reduce murders? For example, making murders unsrestricted, but using education to teach people to resolve issues peacefully?

Should we use the same logic for drunk driving? Making all drunk driving legal, but educate people on the risks and what the safe way to drink is?

See, I tend to think of education in this situation is pretending it’s ok. It’s like lying to people. Like a master plan of deceit. It’s like telling your kids you shouldn’t do bad things, but if you do, here is how you do it to make it seem like it’s ok. Strange to me.

Not at all. “Education” is the part where you are communicating with people and explaining to them why it is wrong, and telling them the truth about it.

Obviously we also need to be working with legistators to try to make it illegal, as well, but without education, people will continue to believe that it’s okay to have abortions, because there will be nobody explaining to them differently.
