Vasectomy reversal

20 years ago, I married a Protestant man in a Protestant ceremony. We have 2 children. After our second child was born, my husband had a vasectomy. A couple years after that, we had our vows blessed by the Catholic Church and our children baptised. At the same time, I had medical issues that required I have an endometrial abalation. And then, last year, my husband became a Catholic.

My question is this. Since we are both Catholics now, he would normally be required to undergo a reversal on the vasectomey. But we are both 45 and a pregnancy is unlikely. And due to the endometrial ablation, a pregnancy would be a danger to me. Is he required to undergo the reversal?

Canon Law #1084 states that reversal is not necessary.

No he isn’t required to but it is seen as a good thing. You could then practice NFP. But , no it is not required.

This is not the case. The Church does not require an attempt at sterilization reversal for either a man or a woman.

But we are both 45 and a pregnancy is unlikely. And due to the endometrial ablation, a pregnancy would be a danger to me. Is he required to undergo the reversal?
