A good move, especially for the folks in places like Italy where you really cannot get out of the house to go to anywhere without the police sending you back home.

Even in the places that still offer Confession, no way are they going to be able to handle the usual “Easter Duty” volume of individual confessions this year.

If they’re not going to be attending Easter Mass and receiving Communion, because there isn’t an Easter Mass or Communion, I reckon it’s a non-issue, except that someone will still probably worry he is going to hell for something.

I’m just going to continue with my usual practice of confessing every 20 days. I see 2 churches still offering it so we’ll see how it goes.

Yeah, this is basically for a bunch of people in a hospital ward, since the rest of us are not supposed to be gathering together in one place.

Is that any different from the usual requirements for offering general absolution?

I think it was more of a “reminder” that general absolution can apply in some circumstances in these trying times. I can only think of a hospital ward or auditorium as a possibility, with the priest suitably protected from the virus.

You can phone your parish office and do confession that way. That’s what I did after making appt for the call.

Idk how long this will last though.

Well I did it. My state is essentially mass free and sacrament are suspended. I asked my priest and he did it. Do you think its less valid then general absolution ?
How can I receive Jesus spiritually on
webcam
This too may change according to Bishop.

LOL!

And maybe even “Vatican continues to not OK general absolution except…” 🤣

So, AFAIK, this hasn’t been given the green light. Your priest took it upon himself to allow this.

I don’t think it’s too responsible to tell folks “yeah, you can do this thing”.

There’s no “less valid” or “more valid”. There’s just “valid” and “invalid.” Maybe you might ask your bishop “is confession over the telephone valid?” 🤔

Oh my jesus save me from sin .I tried. I dont want to be like protestant…
Very freaked out. Where do iget valid
Confession … ✝️

See if a priest will meet you for a private confession in person - while maintaining proper social distancing? If that’s not possible, make an act of perfect contrition and go to confession once available.

Confession by phone, or digital means, unless approved by the Holy See, is not allowed. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is intended to be personal and private. It is intended to be between the penitent and the Vicar of Christ . The risk of interception by phone or otherwise is too great to even consider. There are enough “dark side” types who prowl the internet for opportunity…and other forms of telecommunication. Anyone who does not agree may well be naive. The Vatican has clearly stated that a sincere penitential act, for reparation of sin, is achieved on a personal prayer level, between the penitent and God, WITH the intention of going to confession as soon as practicable.
