I have this book on the docs of Vatican Council II.

It is written in inclusive language. Does anyone have a copy of all these 16 docs in book form with a more precise translation? Can you give me a link to it from a bookstore? Thanks!
Go to the Vatican web page and read the Documents in Latin. Latin is a very Gender specific language and only what you really mean can be used. So if they mean men they have to say men, if they mean women they have to say women. If they mean men and women then occassionally the male form alone is used but more often they will say the male and female forms. There are some forms that allow the automatic dual gender but that is only really found in adjectives, not nouns.

My knowledge of Latin is most limited.
I am looking for a book cuz I don’t want to printout 500+ pages. 😃
The same book was previously published in standard English-- I have it at home-- the cover is yellow and blue rather than yellow and green. Same editor and publisher, just the older edition.

I have a book at home with very good translations and plenty of commentary. “The Documents of Vatican II” (Fr. Walter M. Abbott, S.J., editor, and the Very Rev. Msgr. Joseph Gallagher, translation editor) from 1966.

I totally agree with Japhy…get the Abbott version! I have both the Abbott and the Flannery versions…the Abbott translation is FAR SUPERIOR!! You can find it on e-bay - that is where I got mine.

In fact, I had borrowed and read the Abbott translation from a friend who bought it new when it first came out (before I was born!). Next, I recieved the Flannery set as a gift. Last but not least, I had to search out an Abbott copy of my own…it is definitely the way to go! 👍

Ah, I see. Well you can buy the a bound version of the book from Paxbooks.com. I think they have an English version but check because I don’t really know. I just read them in Latin.

ON a side note, you could take up the study of Latin. I speak five languages and Latin is by far, by FAR the easiest language to learn that I have ever encountered. It was easier for me to learn Latin than to learn English in elementary school. (no paddling involved you see.) I would be willing to help you as much as I can of course if you did want to take it up. The beautiful part of Latin is that each word means what it says. It is a simple and direct language. If you told someone in Latin “I am on my way” they would think that you were the owner of a road and were at that time standing on it. Word order and idiom do not change the meaning of the words involved. The object of a sentence is always the object and the subject always the subject.

Thank you, I will keep that in mind on Latin, that’s very nice of you. Right now I have a pretty full plate pursuing a master’s! 🙂

Woohoo! Got the Abbott version from ebay for $7 and change. Thanks all!
